The short version

What is the difference between Recast and Superside?

They are built for different buyers. Superside's pricing page describes a creative subscription for brand and marketing teams, with a monthly budget spent across design, video, photo, illustration, motion, 3D and strategy. Recast is a product design studio: the screens, flows and design system of a web or mobile product, and the front end built from them.

The commercial shape differs as much as the scope. Superside's page says subscriptions start at a $15,000 monthly minimum on an annual term, and include a $1,000 monthly software fee for its platform. Recast is one plan at $3,900 a month, billed monthly, with a 14-day full refund and no notice period.

The way work is measured differs as well. Superside sells a budget: you draw work against it, and unused Flex budget rolls over for up to three months. Recast sells capacity: unlimited tasks, five worked at once, the rest queued in the order you set.

Side by side

How do Recast and Superside compare, line by line?

Recast costs less, commits you to nothing and is narrower. Superside covers far more kinds of creative work, at a minimum spend roughly four times Recast's price and on an annual term.

The Superside column comes from its pricing page, which covers price and structure. Several rows below are marked as not stated on that page; their sales team or the rest of their site may answer them.

The honest part

When is Superside the better choice?

Superside is the better choice when the work is brand and marketing production at a volume no five-task queue could carry, and when an annual budget is how your company already buys.

  • Campaigns in many formats

Its pricing page lists video, photo, motion, 3D, AR and illustration alongside design. Recast's plan is product design and front-end build; video and 3D are not on it.

  • A large, steady pipeline

A marketing department with dozens of assets a month, many stakeholders and several brands needs breadth. A budget of $15,000 or more buys it from one supplier.

  • The same creatives all year

The Dedicated plan assigns the same group of creatives every month, from $30,000 a month on a 12-month term.

  • Procurement wants an annual agreement

Some companies can only buy against a named annual budget. Superside is set up for that. Recast is month to month by design.

  • You want AI services with it

The page lists AI production, upskilling through its AI Academy and custom brand models. Recast offers none of these.

The other side

When is Recast the better choice?

Recast is the better choice when the thing being designed is a product, the team is small, and the budget is nearer $4,000 a month than $16,000.

  • Product work, end to end

Flows, states and a maintained design system in developer-ready Figma, with components, tokens and spec frames. Then the front end, built in React, Next.js, Webflow or Framer.

  • No annual commitment

Billed monthly. Pause and bank the unused days, or cancel in one click with no notice period.

  • One person who answers for it

One lead designer is on every call and is accountable for every design choice.

  • Arabic and English together

Both are designed natively on the same flow, right-to-left where it should be.

  • A budget below the minimum

Superside's stated minimum is $15,000 a month. Recast is $3,900, and the pilot is $490 once.

The numbers

What does each cost over twelve months?

At the minimum on Superside's pricing page, a year is $180,000 of budget, plus the software fee. A year of Recast is $46,800. The two are not the same purchase, so read the gap as a difference in scale, not as a saving.

Superside: $15,000 × 12 = $180,000. The page also lists a $1,000 monthly software fee, $12,000 a year, and describes it for the Dedicated plan as charged on top of the monthly figure. On that basis the minimum year is $192,000. A Dedicated team from $30,000 a month is $360,000, plus the fee.

Recast: $3,900 × 12 = $46,800. There is no term, so you pay only for the months you use; three months is $11,700.

What the larger figure buys is breadth and volume: many formats, many requests, a team sized to a marketing department. If your need is one product's screens and their build, that breadth is budget you would not draw on.

Questions

Asked before the call.

Is Recast a Superside alternative?

For part of what Superside does. If you were considering Superside for the UI and UX design of a product or a website, Recast covers that for $3,900 a month with no annual term. For video, 3D, campaign production and brand strategy at volume, Superside is built for it and Recast is not.

What is Superside's minimum spend?

Its pricing page, read on 12 October 2026, says subscriptions start at a $15,000 monthly minimum on an annual term and include a $1,000 monthly software fee. Dedicated teams start at $30,000 a month on a 12-month term.

Does Superside have a monthly plan without a contract?

Its pricing page says all Superside subscriptions run on an annual commitment. It also describes a paid, scoped Exploratory Project as a way to see the work first. Recast is billed monthly, with no minimum term.

What happens to budget or time I do not use?

Superside's page says unused Flex budget rolls over for up to three months. Recast has no budget to use up: tasks are unlimited, and if you pause, the unused days of the month are banked until you resume.

How long before the first work arrives from each?

Superside's pricing page says onboarding leads to a first project within the first few weeks, and that a Dedicated team is live in about three weeks. Recast returns first concepts 48 hours after a task is filed, and the team works every day of the week.

Can one company use both Superside and Recast?

Yes, and the split is a natural one. Marketing runs campaign and brand production through Superside; the product team runs screens, the design system and the front-end build through Recast. Everything Recast delivers is yours, so the files can go to any other supplier.
